EU Support to Horticulture Sector Value Chains in Tanzania

Concept Papers and Full Proposals are invited together for the European Union Support to Horticulture Sector Value Chains under the 10th European Development Fund. Full proposals will be reviewed for those applications whose Concept Papers are selected to consider for the grant.

Major objective of this call is to increase agricultural production, development and trade in view of economic development and reduction of rural poverty in Tanzania.

Any grant requested under this call must fall between €600,000 to €1,000,000. The grant requested must be 50%-80% of total eligible costs of the action. The initial planned duration of an action may not be shorter than 24 months nor exceed 36 months.

Priority Areas of Intervention:

  1. Strengthen use of Good Agriculture Practices (GAPs) focusing on postharvest handling, packaging and processing in view of losses reduction and value addition.
  2. Increasing market access and linkages between value chain actors.

Types of Actions:

  1. To catalyze private investment that would improve the productivity and incomes of smallholder farmers
  2. To build supply chains that include smallholders
  3. To leverage private sector investment

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must be legal persons in non-profit-making organization.
  • Applicants must be non-State Actors or international (inter-governmental) organizations as defined by Article 43 of the Implementing Rules to the EC Financial Regulation.
  • Applicants must be established in a Member State of the European Union and of any State included in Annex IV of the Partnership Agreement ACP-EU. This obligation does not apply to international organizations.
  • Applicants must be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
  • Applicants must be established in Tanzania or work with a co-applicant which is established in Tanzania.
  • The applicant may act individually or with co-applicant(s).
  • Proposed actions must take place in the United Republic of Tanzania, Mainland and/or Zanzibar.
