The EC Non-State Actors in Development Actions Grants for Iran and Korea

The European Commission (EC) is accepting grant applications for ‘Non-State Actors in Development Actions in Partner Countries’ for the Islamic Republic of Iran and Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The program aims to support NSAs in the Islamic Republic of Iran (Iran) or in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) whose operations are aiming at promoting an inclusive and empowered society in partner countries so as to benefit populations out of reach of mainstream services and resources and excluded from policy making processes; and Strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations in partner countries, with a view to implement actions aiming at poverty reduction.

Types of activities (not limited to):

  1. Innovative approaches of NSA in the provision of social and other services with a view to ensure sustainable development.
  2. Institutional and technical support (internal governance, dialogue, strengthening of implementation and networking capacities etc.).
  3. Advocacy towards, and monitoring of, public policy making and implementation.
  4. Awareness-raising and policy research (data gathering, strategy development, etc.) aimed at a better formulation, implementation and evaluation of development policies at all levels (local, national and, whenever possible, regional).

Grant request can be made between €250,000 to €500,000 which must be at least 50% of the total eligible cost of the action. The grant money can be maximum 75% of total eligible cost of the action in case of EU applicants and 90% in case of applicants from partner countires (i.e. Iran and DPRK). The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 24 months nor exceed 60 months.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must be legal persons in non-profit making organization.
  • Applicants must be specific types of organization – non-governmental organizations.
  • Applicants must be established in a Member State of the European Union, in a Member State of the European Economic Area, or where the Action is taking place.
  • Applicant must be directly responsible for the preparation, management and implementation of the action together with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies) -i.e. applicants cannot act as mere intermediary.
  • Applicants from EU or EEA must act with co-applicant(s) from the target countries (Iran or EPRK).
